Our Family

Casey and I have been married over 12 years! Casey still loves to cheer on his BYU Cougars and the Utah Jazz and I have time I love to squeeze in my Photography and running. These are some snap shots of our busy life with our 4 children. 2 girls and 2 boys!

Olivia’s Birthday

Olivia is now 7 years old! I decided last year to just do parties on the even birthdays. But I couldn’t stick to my guns and decided that you’re only young once, so we had a party. On Saturday we had a family party. During the day she went out with Casey and picked out a cute butterfly watch. (Just like Brookie’s except Brookie’s is a ladybug.) Then she got some cute sweat pants from Aunt Callie and family and the movie Beauty and the Beast from Grandma May. Then I took her out shopping for her birthday dinner and got her a butterfly necklace and some cute rain boots. We went home and made home made bagels and had pumpkin cookie cupcakes for desert. She kept reminding us that she was the “birthday girl” so we made her a crown and she got to be the princess for the night. Oh she LOVED that.

Everyone wanted to help blow out the candles.

Brooklyn made Olivia a special water bottle with her name on it.

Then on Monday I remembered in the nick of time to bring cupcakes in to her class. I made the pumpkin cookies, as cupcakes, and put some cream cheese frosting on them. Cute, cute.

Then on Wednesday we had THE party. It is always early release on Wednesdays, so it was a good day to have it. Cody and I got ready all day. He helped with the balloons and the cake. He kept telling me what to do next for “my brday cake”. Then when I gave him a beater with frosting he wanted the other one to give to Baylor. He wouldn’t let me wash it. He did take a nap right before the party and my friend Rebecca let Nathan come over, so the boys missed the party. But that sure made it easier for me! We did a Masquerade Ball, with kind of a Mardi Gras color theme. The girls made Masquerade masks and wore fancy costumes and gowns. Then they played “Just Dance” on the Wii. Not too hard. The masks were a hit, even the boys wanted their own.

Fads

So here is what my girls are loving right now.

Silly Bandz.

They’ve been getting them from friends and soccer coaches since the beginning of the school year. I’ve rewarded the girls with them for doing jobs. I’ve seen girls and guys with them almost up to their elbow. They reminded me of -

The Charm Necklace. I had one in 2nd grade. I LOVED it. My favorite was the baby bottle. You could really fill it up with water or juice! Awesome.

I told my girls that when I was in 1st grade, everyone had the Garbage Pail Kids cards and we would trade them at recess. Then kids wouldn’t wait till recess and were trading them during class. Then we weren’t allowed to bring them to school anymore.  That week Olivia told me that she wasn’t going to wear her silly bandz to school anymore because there was a “problem” with them, and if the teacher saw you playing with them they would take them forever. I’m such a smart mom, I saw that one coming.

I also told the girls about when I was in 7th grade and all the girls had these fancy

Bubble Necklaces from Nordstrom. (They must not have been THAT popular since I couldn’t find a picture on the internet.) But I wanted one so bad! My mom told me she had a better idea. She had some mini perfume bottles and she would put one on string and I could wear that. She said no one would even tell the difference and “plus it would smell good too!” I reluctantly agreed and wore it to school. It wasn’t the same, and I still wished I just had a normal necklace, but eventually I saw how it was kind of fun to have something different. My girls liked that story. I do to.

Crazy Hair Day

Three heads of crazy hair is a lot! Thank goodness Nathan is very conservative about his “crazy” hair!

Fall is here!

Last weekend I got around to decorating my porch! I love it! It feels cozy. Makes me want a cup of cider! Well, that night, hours after completion, at midnight I hear some one on my porch! Then a loud BANG on my door. I yell out the window HEY! Some kid takes off. I grab Casey’s pants and take off down stairs and out the door. The stinkin kid took my huge, heavy, 3 hour new pumpkin and threw it! AT MY DOOR! What the heck! Ok I know kids “smash pumpkins” in the street, which is kind of rude. But he threw it at my door. That’s seriously vandalism!  I was so furious, I was the crazy lady out in the street yelling bad words like “stupid” and “idiot” and “jerk”. I’m sure he was just laughing at me! Which made me madder. It put a huge crack in the pumpkin, but it didn’t explode like I think he was hoping. So anyway, Happy Autumn!

Family Photos “By Scarlette”

I am  friends with an amazing photographer. Scarlette  takes the most beautiful pictures, and we were lucky enough to have her take our family photos! She had to stare, for hours, at all our weird photo faces our family makes! That is why she rocks. I think the pictures are stunning! These are some of my favorites!
