This year for our ward party we Trick-or-Treated around our neighborhood on Saturday (since Halloween was on Sunday). I dressed as a fortune teller and sat in my garage with the fog machine, strobe light and my crystal ball and told the kids I saw candy in their future. The kids had a blast visiting all the people they knew on our neighborhood, and then dressing up on Sunday and passing out candy. I loved that I didn’t have to pass it out! They got the best of both worlds. On Sunday We had Callie and Brandon over for some soup and breadsticks, and Callie made some yummy pumpkin pie. Then we went and picked up my mom and dad from the airport. They had been visiting Heidi and Ryan in Utah.
I made all four of their costumes from scratch. I think I lost my mind at the fabric store. Next year they will just be rotating the costumes. I’m all sewed out!
We had Brooklyn the “Zombie” and Olivia “Little Red Riding Hood”
Nathan “Ivan Drago” and Cody “Rocky Balboa” from Rocky IV. So here’s the story with me and Casey’s costume.
I came to Casey and said “I have a great idea! Let’s dress up as Bob and Jillian from The Biggest Loser.”
Pretty clever, I thought. Casey never answered me about it, then on Wednesday he emails me “Let’s be Rex Kwan Do and Starla from Napoleon Dynamite.” (He had been trying to be Rex for Halloween for years.) But it was not exactly the same compliment that my idea was. I’m asking him to be Bob. He’s asking me to be Starla. Not the same.
I told him if I ever was to dress up as Starla, he had to dress as Richard Simmons!
